UK MObile Phone Directory - Privacy and Opt Out

A site has started up in the UK called 118800 which is operating a directory for mobile phones. If you have ever submitted your name and address and mobile phone number to a firm either on line, over the phone or on a physical form then it is highly likely that your details have been sold to this company. It is now easier to phone a mobile user if you don't know their number. What happens is that you go to the above site, put in the name and address of the person you want to contact, if they have the mobile number of that person they send them a text. If they reply to the text the person who is trying to contact you is charged 1 and put through.

It is still being argued over whether this is a grave misuse of the Data Protection act. You can opt out, but, it is argued by many people that you should opt in not opt out. If you wish to opt out then go HERE and enter your details...curses be upon them
